Message for “Name a Dog” donation:
This name is in memory of our goofy wiggle butt boxer, Dexter. He lived an incredible 12 years full of friends, good snuggles, great food, adventures, and lots of sloppy kisses. He reminded us everyday that life was worth living to the fullest, but that there’s nothing wrong with finding a good sun spot for a mid-day nap. We would love this name to go to a loyal boxer who has a heart of gold and a face that can make anyone smile.

Dexter has been in foster for two months now. He enjoys following his foster parents around the house. He loves tug of war and will entertain himself with toys. Dexter enjoys shaking and throwing his toys around. He is really good on leash and loves to go for walks. Dexter is learning his basic commands and has mastered sit and come. His foster family has been working on crate training with him. Dexter was able to be neutered this week and he had the cyst removed from his head, which was benign. His foster family will begin working with a trainer this Saturday to help improve his behavior. Once we have strategies in place to help Dexter, we hope this will be helpful when transitioning him to a forever home.

Dexter is still waiting in the kennel for a foster home. He did well on his dog test at the shelter and the kennel has indicated he is a very sweet boy. Dexter is unknown with cats and needs a home without children. If you can help Dexter, please submit an application for him.

Dexter was found as a stray and ended up at a very overcrowded shelter. He is estimated to be around 3 years old. Dexter did great with his dog test at the shelter. He was able to join our rescue last weekend and went to a foster home in Maryland. They reported that Dexter was good on leash and very well behaved in the home. He is completely housebroken and was making progress with crate training. As Dexter settled in, though, he became more possessive of his toys and his foster home did not feel comfortable with him around their child. Dexter is currently at our boarding kennel and would love to find an adult only home. Please offer to help Dexter so we can get this boy back in a home. A kennel can be a very stressful environment, so we are hoping he will be able to find a new foster home soon.
